Athletics

As Genesis Classical Academy continues to grow, more athletic opportunities are available to students.  During the 2023-2024 school year the Griffins will compete in Trap, Grades 5-8 and JV Girls Volleyball,  Grades 5-8 Girls Basketball, and Grades 5 – 8 and JV Boys Basketball. GCA students will also compete on the gridiron in partnership with the USC Rebels Football team. Genesis is a member of the Minnesota State High School League, and continues to explore other athletic opportunities. GCA also offers a number of camps and clinics for younger athletes.

Trap

Genesis Classical Academy recently completed its third year of competitive trap shooting, and is a member of the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League.

With an emphasis on safety, sportsmanship, and marksmanship the trap team competes at Center Creek Gun Club between Winnebago and Huntley. We are very fortunate to have the support and mentorship of the members of Center Creek Gun Club.

The trap team is open to students who are in grades 6 through 12  and have completed an approved firearm safety training.  This year the team competed with five events in the 2023 Spring League, and at the Trap Championship in Alexandria, MN on June 12th.

VOLLEYBALL

In the fall of 2022, Griffin ladies competed in Grades 5 – 8 volleyball.  This fall, JV Girls Volleyball will be added to the Grade 5 – 8 schedule.

Check here for the schedule of upcoming games, which will be posted as soon as the schedule is finalized.

Basketball

Both boys and girls in Grades 5 – 8 competed in the winter of 2022 – 2023 in basketball, with an emphasis on building skills, sportsmanship, integrity and grit. One highlight of the season was a second place finish for the boys’ team at the Janesville tournament.

This coming year a JV team will be added  to the Grades 5-8 team for the boys, with the girls competing at the Grade 5 – 8 level. Future plans are to add a JV team for the girls.
