Music is an important part of a classical education, and the hymn “Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow” is embedded in the fiber of Genesis Classical Academy. We sing it in the morning at our opening gathering, we sing it in the classrooms, and we sing it in music class. This 17th century hymn (also known as the Doxology) is nearly universally sung in Christian denominations and helps us (the created) to rightly order our thoughts and affections toward the Creator. It helps us to remember that all of our blessings are given to us by our Heavenly Father, who loves us beyond measure.
When discussions about opening a Christian classical academy in Winnebago first circulated in the spring of 2015, I went to one of the initial meetings. After that meeting, I remember saying to my husband, “I would love to see a school like this in Winnebago, but there is NO WAY. There is NO WAY they can find a building, hire staff, recruit students, and open a school in less than 5 months!”
In September of 2015, Genesis Classical Academy opened with a beautiful building, a highly-qualified staff, and 32 eager students. Now, at the beginning of Year 5, Genesis Classical Academy has 85 spirited students, a talented and dedicated staff, nearly 50 families who sacrifice greatly to provide their children with a Christian classical education, and a community of volunteers and benefactors who help provide for our temporal and financial needs.
There is no way this is humanly possible. But God.
As we begin Year 5, please join us at our Convocation on October 8th, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in Dikkers Hall. Pray with us in praise and thanksgiving for the many blessings God has showered on Genesis Classical Academy. Pray with us as we seek His guidance and continued blessings in the days ahead.
